MANILA, Philippines – Fast getting there.
Pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao reported that he’s now very close to gaining perfect shape for his anticipated megafight with Ricky Hatton which explodes in 19 days in Las Vegas.
“Mahigit dalawang linggo na lang at magbabakbakan na kaming dalawa ni Hatton sa Mayo 2 at handang-handa na po ako," Pacquiao wrote Thursday in his “Kumbinasyon" column for PhilBoxing.com and Abante.
As training heats up, the Pacman’s sparring is now up to 10 rounds, mixing it up with sparring equally tough partners, who have standing orders from trainer Freddie Roach to give it to the Filipino superstar.
“Masasabi kong unti-unti ko nang nakakamit ang halos 100 percent na kundisyon ng pangangatawan at sa tulong ng Poong Maykapal, makukuha natin ang pinakamataas na antas ng kundisyon bago ang araw ng laban, ang una kong assignment sa taong ito," the 30-year-old bomber from General Santos City related.
Pacquiao said he’s looking forward to more intense workouts in the last two weeks before he winds up his buildup in Sin City itself.
“Sa darating na linggo, papasok na kami sa pinakamatinding yugto ng training at mula doon ay magsisimula na akong magpababa ng timbang bago kami magtungo ng Las Vegas, isang linggo bago ang laban," he said.
Largely considered as the best fighter in the planet today, Pacquiao is seeking to add another gem to his collection when he vies for Hatton’s International Boxing Organization junior welterweight title. –GMANews.TV
