ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – The police has created a Task Force Bangkaw-Bangkaw that will focus in trying to rescue three abducted public school teachers in Zamboanga Sibugay province in Mindanao.
The task force is headed by the provincial police chief, Senior Superintendent Federico Castro, and composed of policemen and military troops, according to an announcement on Saturday by provincal police spokesman Chief Inspector Alex Lorenzo.
The task force troops have been sent to all areas where the teachers could have been taken.
The teachers – Jocelyn Enriquez, Jocelyn Inion, and Naime Mande – were aboard a motorized banca when abducted by four gunmen around 3:45 p.m. Friday. They were on their way to Naga town proper from Bangkaw-Bangkaw, an island barangay.
Lorenzo did not reveal the places where the troops were deployed so as not to jeopardize their operations. But the troops have been sending back information to their base.
"All these information are being assessed and verified," Lorenzo said.
The task force already has the identities of the suspects, who have not yet contacted the victims’ families nor made any demands.
The Navy earlier sent boats to track down the whereabouts of the kidnap victims. - GMANews.TV
